17 Onji Haiku Crafters’ Suite

$25

A practical toolkit for writing, revising, and understanding haiku — from first spark to finished poem.

The Haiku Crafters’ Suite is a curated collection of haiku-focused tools designed to help you see more clearly, cut more decisively, and trust your instincts as a haiku poet.

This isn’t theory-heavy instruction. It’s a set of working tools I use every day — the kind you come back to again and again while writing.

What’s Included

Each tool in the suite approaches haiku from a different angle — craft, perception, interpretation, and revision:

Why This Suite Exists

Many haiku resources explain rules. Very few help you develop judgement.

This suite is for writers who want to:

  • Understand why a haiku works (or doesn’t)
  • Explore multiple readings without collapsing ambiguity
  • Improve craft without flattening intuition
  • Move beyond “Is this a haiku?” toward “Is this my haiku?”

A note on authorship

These tools are not designed to write haiku for you.

Instead, they are intended to help you see more clearly, question your choices, and develop confidence in your own judgement as a haiku poet.

The work — the noticing, the decisions, the final poem — remains yours.

Who This Is For

  • Beginners who want clear guidance without rigidity
  • Experienced poets who want sharper revision tools
  • Writers interested in English-language haiku as a living form
  • Anyone who prefers insight over prescription

If you’re looking for formulaic templates or rigid syllable counting, this probably isn’t for you.

About the Creator

Created by Mark Stuart Farrar, the Aphantasic Haikuist and founder of 17 Onji and author of thousands of haiku exploring perception, silence, and implication in English-language haiku.

These tools grew out of long-term practice — not academic theory — and are designed to support writers at the page, not lecture them from a distance.
